How to UseJobTIPS consists of 2 learning programs that can be used from any internet device to help individuals better understand how to find and keep employment. The Student Version is the most popular and can be used independently or in the classroom, while the PRO is for larger groups with guides for teachers. Both versions cover not only standard topics like making a resume and interviewing, but the more difficult social questions including how to find a job that matches your capabilities, interact in job settings, and handle confusing and difficult situations. Both contain the same videos demonstrating what to do and not do. Numerous printable materials including worksheets, cue cards, summaries, visual schedules, graphic organizers, quizzes, and assessments support mastering the skills with practice. Developed by a team of teachers and counselors, JobTIPS explains the rationale behind the material to help the user understand the "why" for actions to better develop perspective-taking skills and generalize to new situations. It was funded by the National Institutes of Health and tested in controlled studies. Used in thousands of classrooms and rehabilitation centers, it offers a unique combination of research-based solutions and practical resources that approach employment needs in novel ways to offer real and lasting success.
Picking a VersionWhile both versions cover the same basic topics, they have different looks and navigation. Student version can be used independently, although it is generally used in a teacher led discussion. It has 60 work sheets students can fill in and return to the teacher for remote learning. PRO is based on Common Core Standards and contains guides for the teacher in covering the topics in a classroom. JobTIPS StudentWhile designed to be used independently, the program is large with many topics discussed in detail. This can be overwhelming for a student so the Teacher Guide handout suggests ways teachers can assign the content in manageable sections. Below are some videos explaining a few sections.
